• Valencia. Now Spain’s new Capital of Meetings and Conventions
is one of Europe’s most popular host cities.

According to the International Congress and Conventions Association (ICCA), Valencia’s popularity as a host city rose faster than any other city in history. Statistics show that Valencia hosted 57 international conferences last year alone. It grew from the 11th most popular host city in Europe to the 3rd most popular host city in Europe in just one year.

Valencia moved ahead of European cities with a long history of organizing business meetings such as Zurich, Milan and Florence. And its worldwide growth rate is just as impressive. It climbed nine positions in a single year, moving from 19th place to a 10th place, leaving behind cities internationally renowned for organizing business events such as Chicago, San Francisco and New York. "The number of people attending business meetings in Valencia rose by 245% in one year alone,” says José Salinas, Managing Director of Tourism Valencia.

Of the many reasons for the city’s rapid progress, Salinas puts these five at the top of the list:

b1Valencia has one of the world’s most advanced technological infrastructures.

b1The long list of incentives for hosting events in Valencia is unmatched.

b1Valencia’s Palace of Congress received the World's Best Convention Centre Award (Apex Award),
b1 awarded by the International Association of Congress Centers
.

b1Valencia’s near-perfect year-around temperature, and magnificent Mediterranean beaches.

b1Valencia’s progressive image as “The First City of the New Millennium”

Among the most noteworthy events to date are the following:
The European Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis Conference held in March with over 5,000 specialists.
